Edison tops in three CIF polls

Three Edison sports teams, boys’ and girls’ basketball and boys’ soccer, entered 2011 ranked No. 1 in their respective divisions.

Edison’s boys’ basketball team heads a Division 2AA poll that includes two other local schools, Huntington Beach at No. 8 and Ocean View at No. 16. The Edison girls’ basketball team tops the Division 1A poll and the Edison boys’ soccer team heads the Division 1 rankings.

Edison’s girls’ water polo team is also ranked, coming in at No. 8 in Division 1

Five other local teams also are ranked in the various polls.

In boys’ basketball, Fountain Valley is No. 14 in Division 1A and Brethren Christian is No. 6 in Division 5A. In girls’ basketball, Huntington Beach is No. 4 in Division 2AA, Ocean View is No. 14 in Division 4AA and Brethren Christian is No. 3 in Division 5A.

Fountain Valley LL registration is Saturday

Fountain Valley Little League is holding two more registration sessions this month for its 2010 season, beginning with a 9 a.m. to noon session Saturday at the league snack bar (Mile Square Park). The final session is Jan. 22, also from 9 a.m. to noon at the snack bar. Both registration sessions coincide with tryouts. Players ages 9 and up are eligible to tryout. Players age 8 have the option of also trying out.

Players sought for adult club football team
