The Boston Breakers chose UC Irvine senior Tanya Taylor in the fourth round of the Women’s Professional Soccer draft Friday.

Taylor, the first Anteaters player drafted by the third-year league and was the lone player chosen from the Big West Conference. She was the 24th and final player taken in the seven-team draft, which consisted of four rounds in Baltimore, Md.

Taylor was a third-team All-American and the Big West Offensive Player of the Year in 2010, when she led the conference in goals (11) and assists (12), the latter a UCI season record.

Taylor, a forward, helped the Anteaters earn the program’s first conference regular-season title and NCAA tournament berth. UCI advanced to the NCAA round of 16 and finished 19-3-2.

“I’m really proud of what Tanya has accomplished,” UCI Coach Scott Juniper said in a statement. “She’s a talented player with a lot to offer and I’m looking forward to seeing her challenge herself at the next level.”
