CdM equestrian team ends strong

In the final show of the 2010-11 season, the Corona del Mar High equestrian team scored several wins in both the junior varsity and varsity divisions.

The shows were held at the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park in San Juan Capistrano. The high school equestrian season runs from October to January. Points are earned on both an individual and team level in novice, freshman, junior varsity, and varsity divisions.

In the varsity division, Erin Fry won the overall Varsity IEL Medal final and also won the Hunters Over Fences division on the final day of the season. CdM earned reserve champion (second place) honors with consistent placing by all varsity riders.

On the final day of the season, CdM again turned in solid performances in both the JV and varsity divisions. Mckay Murtaugh picked up individual reserve champion honors in the JV division with high placings in all of her classes.

Murtaugh had solid performances in the JV division winning the IEL Medal class and finishing as reserve champion during the opening day of competion. In the varsity division, Amber Dorn, Danica Kohut, and Fry’s combined scores won CdM varsity champion honors.

On an individual basis Kohut won the English Pleasure class and Fry won both the Hunters Over Fences and the varsity medal class which earned her reserve champion for that day.
