Doubleheader

COSTA MESA — Host Vanguard University swept Menlo in nonconference action Monday.

The Lions (9-6) won the first game, 6-0, and prevailed 1-0, in eight innings in Game 2.

Adriana Venezia’s pinch-hit single drove in the winning run and was the Lions’ only hit in the second game.

Rachael Hellyer threw a three-hit shutout in Game 2. Stacie Salazar (10 strikeouts in six innings) and Emilee Reaber combined for the other shutout.

CYPRESS — Matt Moynihan drove in three runs, while Chris Carlson and Colton Hamill drove in two each for the Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference road game Saturday.

Zach Chavez, Kevin Cho and Jordan Beck joined the aforementioned trio with two hits apiece for OCC (15-2, 2-1 in conference).

Cypress is 10-4, 2-0.

IRVINE — The host Anteaters won all 15 sets in the Big West Conference match Sunday.

Hannah Holladay swept, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 singles for the winners (4-7, 1-2 in conference), while Franziska Goettsching (No. 4) and Brooke Schweyer (No. 5) each won 12 of 13 games.

The Titans are 3-9, 0-4.
