Hamill steps up for OCC

FULLERTON — The Pirates’ Colton Hamill hit a game-winning two-run home run off of the left field pole in the top of the ninth inning of the Orange Empire Conference game Thursday.

The homer broke a 4-4 tie. Chris Carlson went two for three with a run batted in for OCC (20-4,6-3 in conference).

Fullerton is 8-14, 1-8.

MEN’S TENNIS

Orange Coast 5, Saddleback 4

MISSION VIEJO — Felix Demiro (No. 2), Jesse Chen (No. 3) and Gregory Villacaña (No. 5) won in singles for the Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference match Thursday.

Pat Wright and Demiro won at No. 1 doubles and chen and Villacaña won at No. 3 doubles for OCC (9-5, 6-2 in conference).

COSTA MESA — Anna Walinowicz won at No. 1 singles for the Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference match Thursday.

OCC is 3-9, 1-7 in conference.

Barona Collegiate Cup

LAKESIDE — UC Irvine is in ninth place after Thursday’s first two rounds at Barona Creek Golf Club.

San Diego leads the 16-team field with a 36-hole total of 712.

Glen Scher of UC Santa Barbara is the individual leader at seven-under par 137 on rounds of 70-67.

Senior Max Greil leads UCI as he is in eighth place at 143 (70-73).

The final 18 holes are scheduled for today.
