CORONA DEL MAR — Senior Brian Ford was four for four with two runs batted in and two stolen bases Tuesday, helping the Sea Kings improve to 4-0 in Pacific Coast League play.

Will Morrow went two for four with two RBIs for CdM (9-2), ranked No. 4 in the CIF Southern Section Division III coaches’ poll.

Andrew McCormack (4-1) threw six innings, allowed only five hits and struck out five in the win.

Clark Cashion was two for three with an RBI.

The Sea Kings have a league showdown at defending league champion Beckman, which is ranked No. 2, on Friday at 3:15 p.m.

COSTA MESA — Senior PJ Maloney and junior Logan Benter each had two hits and a run batted in for the Mustangs in the Orange Coast League game Tuesday.

Senior pitcher Tyler Sheffner went 6 2/3 with seven strikeouts for Costa Mesa (6-4, 2-2 in league).

The Mustangs play at Estancia on Thursday at 3:15 p.m.

COSTA MESA — Sho Watanabe went two for three with a double for Estancia in the Orange Coast League game Tuesday at Orange Coast College.

Andres Hernandez was one for three with a run batted in, while Steven Macias Brody Pearce both went one for three with a double for Estancia (4-5, 1-2 in league).

CORONA DEL MAR — Junior middle blocker Jack Reed finished with nine kills and one block as the defending Pacific Coast League champion Sea Kings opened league play Tuesday with a 25-10, 25-9, 25-19 victory.

Spencer Haly had six kills and one block for CdM (12-2, 1-0 in league) won its third straight match.

Evan Dean had six kills and Joe Ctvrtlik recorded 21 assists.

The Sea Kings, ranked No. 1 in the CIF Southern Section Division I coaches’ poll, play at Irvine Friday at 5:15 p.m.

NEWPORT BEACH — Rusty had 12 kills, two aces and four digs to help the Sailors to a 25-17, 25-11, 25-8 Sunset League-opening win Tuesday.

Cody Caldwell had 11 kills and five digs, Kevin Rakestraw had five kills, Clay Carr had four kills and Ian Sequiera had 28 assists for Newport Harbor (10-6, 1-0 in league), ranked No. 8 in the CIF Southern Section Division I coaches’ poll.

The Sailors play host to Los Alamitos Friday at 5:45 p.m.

COSTA MESA — Kyle Treiger finished with eight kills in the Orange Coast League opener that Laguna Beach won, 25-13, 25-21, 25-17, Tuesday.

Anthony Pham had 10 digs for the Eagles (0-8, 0-1 in league).

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Outside hitter Kent Kawaguchi recorded 18 kills, hit .520 and had 11 digs in the Lightning’s Academy League opener Monday, but Brethren Christian won, 27-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21.

Chris Zadra contributed 15 kills for Sage Hill (3-11, 0-1 in league)

The Lighting play host to rival St. Margaret’s Thursday at 5 p.m.

Estancia 207, Costa Mesa 243

COSTA MESA — Junior Jake Knapp shot one-over-par 36 to earn medalist honors in an Orange Coast League match at Mesa Linda Golf Course Tuesday, keeping the Eagles undefeated.

Estancia improved to 9-0, 7-0 in league.

Aaron Wood finished with a 41, followed by Jake Stone (43), Ryan Quinlan (43) and Davin Ortiz (44).

The Eagles play Loara on Thursday at Dad Miller Golf Course in Anaheim at 2 p.m.

NEWPORT BEACH — Junior Mike Moorhead shot a one-over-par 36 to earn medalist honors in the Sea Kings’ Pacific Coast League match Tuesday.

Chase Wheatley and Tanner Trauthen each finished with 38s, helping CdM improve to 10-1, 3-1 in league.

Four CdM golfers had 39s, starting with John Davenport, Brian Mull, Ryan Grable and Karick Brown.

The Sea Kingss play Woodbridge today at Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course in Irvine at 2:30 p.m.

SEAL BACH — Marcus Kiel shot even-par 36 for the Sailors in the Sunset League match at Old Ranch Country Club Tuesday.

Brad Tapfer (39), Mason Moody (40), Carter Norris (41) and Eli Gomez (41) also scored for Newport Harbor (5-6, 1-1 in league).

John Lee of Los Al was the medalist, carding, two-under 34.

The Sailors play host to San Juan Hills today at Santa Ana Country Club.

Sage Hill 13, St. Margaret’s 5

NEWPORT BEACH — Robbe Simon (No. 1) and Andrew Kurzweil (No. 2) swept in singles for the Lightning in their Academy League match at the Tennis Club Newport Beach Tuesday.

Alex Manolakas and Kevin Marshack swept at No. 1 doubles for Sage Hill (6-5, 3-0 in league), ranked No. 3 in the CIF Southern Section Division III coaches’ poll.

St. Margaret’s is 6-2, 2-2.

The Lightning, who beat Oxford Academy, 13-5, Monday, play host to Whitney, ranked No. 5 in Division III, Friday. Sage Hill defeated Whitney, 74-69, in games after a 9-9 tie March 22.

SEAL BEACH — Craig McKennon and Troy Arnold won two of three sets at No. 1 doubles for the Sailors in the Sunset League match at Seal Beach Tennis Center Tuesday.

Greg Brostek and Fred Matz won two of three sets at No. 2 doubles for Newport Harbor (4-6, 0-2 in league).

The Sailors play at Edison Thursday.

Newport Harbor 15, Yorba Linda 6

YORBA LINDA — Senior Sierra Michaelsen had eight goals, two assists and 10 groundballs for the Sailors in their Sunset League opener Tuesday.

Stephanie Storch and Devon Brannick scored two goals each. Chelsie Delameter had one goal and four assists, while Madeline Storch and Nikki Perrier added one goal each for Newport Harbor (5-5, 1-0 in league).IRLS’

IRVINE — Gabby Smith finished with seven goals for the Sea Kings in a Pacific Coast League match Monday.

Tiffany Palladin had three goals and Torrey Attyah contributed five assists for CdM (4-0, 2-0 in league).

Kylie Mulvaney, a defender, finished with one goal, one assists, two draw controls and caused one turnover.

Goalie Sarah Hostetler made 10 saves.
