Garrity heading to Sac State

All-CIF basketball player Dylan Garrity of Edison singed a letter of intent Friday with NCAA Division 1 school Sacramento State.

The 6-foot senior guard averaged 21 points per game during his senior year and earned co-MVP of the Sunset League and CIF Division 2AA first-team honors. Garrity finished his prep career as the boys' program career leader in scoring (1,729 points), assists (438) and games played (114).

The school retired his jersey (No. 5) in March, the first time the program has retired a player's jersey, Chargers Coach Rich Boyce said.

Youth swim program now at Edison

A swim program for middle school youth run by Edison High co-head swim coach Diggy Riley is underway this week at Edison.

The program, in its second year, emphasizes stroke work and endurance in workouts that mirror those of the Edison swim program and present local youth the opportunity to train with one of the top swim and water polo coaches in Orange County.

Workouts run 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. each weekday through June 9. For more information, visit
