High School Roundup: Estancia completes first undefeated regular season

COSTA MESA — Junior Jake Knapp finished with a one-over-par 37 in Thursday’s Orange Coast League match at Mesa Verde Country Club as the Eagles recorded their first undefeated regular season, finishing 17-0, 14-0 in league.

Bill Crosson and Aaron Wood each shot 41s, and Jacob Beth had a 44 and Jake Stone a 48.

The Eagles will be at the league individual tournament Monday at Costa Mesa Golf and Country Club’s Los Lagos Course.

Newport Harbor 206, Fountain Valley 211

NEWPORT BEACH — Sailors junior Carter Norris carded a three-over par 39 in the Sunset League match Thursday at Big Canyon Country Club.

Zach Eddy and Marcus Kiel each shot 40, Brad Tapfer shot 43 and Mason Moody had a 44 for Newport Harbor (12-9, 6-3 in league).

The Sailors face Huntington Beach on Tuesday at Seacliff.

Godinez 12, Costa Mesa 6

COSTA MESA — Mustangs senior shortstop Alex Krohnfeldt was two for four with a triple and two runs scored in the Orange Coast League game Thursday at Costa Mesa High.

Second baseman Sami Feinstein had a double and two runs scored for Costa Mesa (5-13, 3-3 in league). Sara Torrenueva was two for three.

Saddleback def. Estancia

SANTA ANA — Sophomore libero Anthony Pham had 25 digs in the Orange Coast League match that host Saddleback won, 25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 25-18, on Thursday.

Estancia (1-9 in league) plays host to Calvary Chapel on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Corona del Mar 10, Beckman 2

CORONA DEL MAR — Junior goalie Michael Ortlieb made eight saves and the Sea Kings on Thursday closed out Pacific Coast League play at 10-0, their fourth straight undefeated league championship season.

Michael Keasey scored three goals and assisted on another for CdM, which has won 38 straight Pacific Coast League games dating back to 2008.

Connor Gaal and Connor Canale each had two goals.

CdM, which is 13-4 overall, plays at Palos Verdes on Saturday at 2 p.m.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Foothill 10, Newport Harbor 6

NEWPORT BEACH — Senior Madeline Storch scored two goals for the Sailors on senior day Thursday.

Sierra Michaelsen (one assist), Chelsie Delameter, Kirsten Rohan and Lexi McCardle added one goal each, while Cailynn Smethurst recorded nine saves in goal.
