Walinowicz advances in regionals

EL CAJON — Orange Coast College’s Anna Walinowicz won in singles and doubles at Grossmont College to advance to Friday’s action.
Walinowicz, who had a first-round bye, beat San Diego Mesa’s Gabi Fortunato, 7-5, 7-5. Walinowicz plays in Friday’s third round at 9 a.m.
She teamed with Lianne Wheelock to defeat Ashley Jones and Frances Boman of Mt. San Jacinto, 6-2, 6-1 in the second round.
Walinowicz and Wheelock compete in the round of 16 Friday at 1:30 p.m.
