West Coast Championships start Thursday

The 2011 National Scholastic Surfing Assn. West Coast Championships, presented by NIKE 6.0, starts Thursday and runs through Sunday at the Huntington Beach Pier. The four-day event starts Thursday with preliminary round action in the Explorer Conference Championships. The Open Conference Championships are Friday and Saturday. Both division finals are Sunday. The Airshow Championships are Saturday.

Edison football sets fundraiser date

Edison High’s football program will hold its fifth annual Alumni, ProSport & Celebrity Golf tournament July 11 at Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley. Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit from the Grammy Award-winning group, The Eagles, are sponsoring and golfing in the event.

The cost per player is $150 if paid by May 31. The cost is $200 after June 1st. The day includes golfing, silent and live auctions, raffle drawings and the chance to win $100,000 in the “Hole in One Shoot Out.”

Lifeletics Baseball summer camps set

Dates have been set for the 2011 Lifeletics Summer Baseball weekly camps in Huntington Beach. Eight weeks of instruction will be offered June 27 through Aug. 15. The cost is $199 for a single week and two weeks is $399, with a third week free of charge with the purchase of two weeks. An advanced camp will be held the final week of the summer schedule.

Barons golf fundraiser is June 27

The sixth annual Baron Football “Moose Invitational” Golf Tournament is June 27 at Mile Square Golf Course in Fountain Valley. The tournament consists of a four-person scramble, longest drive contest, closest-to-the-pin contest and putting contest.

The cost is $150 per player and covers green fees, cart fees, practice range, door prizes, gift bags, lunch and dinner. The tournament benefits the Fountain Valley High football program and the Michael Musso Memorial Fund. Musso, a 2004 graduate of Fountain Valley, lost his life in a car accident in 2005. Through the golf fundraiser, a scholarship is awarded each year to a four-year Baron football player.
