Haly, Conti honored

Corona del Mar High senior middle blocker Spencer Haly earned the CIF Southern Section Division II Player of the Year award and Steve Conti was named the Coach of the Year for leading the boys’ volleyball team to its seventh section title in the program’s history.

Joining Haly and Conti on the All-CIF team were outside hitters Brennan Anderson and Parker Brown. The four contributed to a special season in which the Sea Kings (32-4, 10-0 in league) also claimed the Pacific Coast League title, the CIF Southern California Regional Division II title and the ESPN RISE national title.

The 6-foot-7 Haly finished with 256 kills and a team-best 113 blocks.

Haly, who is bound for Stanford, also earned a share of the Pacific Coast League MVP award.

Conti, in his 16th season with the boys, won his fifth section crown in his ninth championship appearance.

Anderson, a senior bound for Ohio State, recorded 236 kills, 135 digs, 41 blocks and 29 aces.

Brown, a highly-recruited junior, led the team with 353 kills. He finished with 136 digs, 36 blocks and 34 aces.
