Alumni tournaments coming

CdM alumni tourney coming this month

Corona del Mar High is playing host to its 23rd annual alumni boys’ basketball tournament on July 30.

Robert Hess, the tournament director, expects graduating classes from as far back as 1977 to the most recent class to compete at the 16-team tournament. The tournament will also have a silent auction to raise funds for the basketball program.

The tournament will start at 8 a.m.

Newport alumni to hoop it up soon

Newport Harbor High is playing host to its 11th annual alumni boys’ basketball tournament on July 30.

The entry fee per player is $25 and participants will receive a T-shirt. Jamie Holmes, the organizer of the event, said players are not required to have a team to enter the tournament and individuals will be placed on teams.

Check in will be at 8 a.m. and the games are expected to start at 9 a.m.
