IRVINE — Anteaters goalie Andrew Fontein had two saves in his nonconference shutout Friday.

Lester Hayes III scored first for No. 8-ranked UCI (8-1-0) on an assist from Marcus Franco and Christian Hernandez in the 20th minute.

Juan Gutierrez scored in the 45th minute with Hernandez assisting.

Miguel Ibarra gave the Anteaters a 3-0 lead in the 80th minute.

Bryan Breslin capped the scoring in the 88th minute with an assist from Norby Rodriguez.

Pacific def. UC Irvine

STOCKTON — Aly Squires led the Anteaters with 13 kills in the Big West Conference opener Friday.

The Tigers won, 21-25, 21-25, 26-24, 25-10, 15-11.

Squires also had 18 digs, while Alexandra Hauser posted a season-high 10 kills. Kristin Winkler topped all players with 23 digs. Shannon Fleming and Marisa Bubica logged identical marks of nine kills and five blocks and Mary Carls had 41 assists for UCI (5-6, 0-1 in conference).
