LA CANADA — Senior Melanie de Arakal scored 15 points, including three three-pointers, for the Sea Kings in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 3A playoffs Saturday.

Senior Jordan Meyers had 12 points and eight rebounds, while senior Karleh Wilson had seven points and eight rebounds for CdM (11-17).

“We played one of our better games of the year,” said CdM Coach Mark Decker, who guided the Sea Kings to their first playoff win since 2001 on Thursday. “We played really hard. We competed. La Canada is a very good team. We are definitely proud of our effort. We just came up a little bit short.”

CIF Southern Section Inland Division tournament

CORONA — Newport Harbor senior Ben Nordstrom (160 pounds) and junior Conner Moore (195) finished their respective season on the final day of the event Saturday at Roosevelt.

Nordstrom won twice on Friday and lost in his first match Saturday morning. He went 2-2 in the tournament. Moore was 1-2 after losing once on Friday and in his first match Saturday.

Newport Harbor junior Larson Harley (145) went 1-2 and was eliminated Friday, as was senior Brandon Hayden, who went 1-2.
