College Roundup: Carlson shines for OCC


Orange Coast 3, Irvine Valley 1

COSTA MESA — Chris Carlson went two for three with runs batted in and a run scored for the Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference game Thursday.

Boog Powell went three for four with two runs for OCC (19-2-1,6-1 in conference).


Nevada 8, UC Irvine 3

RENO, Nev. — Tommy Reyes and Jeff Stephens were each two for four with a run batted in for UCI in the nonconference game Thursday at Nevada.

Kyle Hooper allowed three runs in 4 2/3 innings for the Anteaters (9-8).

Braden Shipley allowed just one run on two hits in six innings for Nevada, which improved to 10-6.


Fresno Pacific 8, Vanguard 5

FRESNO — Jordan Mould hit a double and drove in a run in the Lions' Golden State Athletic Conference game on Thursday.

Vanguard dropped to 9-10, 1-8 in conference.



Vanguard 5, Our Lady of the Lake (Tx.) 1

COSTA MESA — Lucas Pereira and Radek Rosiak won in singles and teamed up for a doubles victory in the nonconference match Thursday at Costa Mesa Tennis Center.

Roger Muri, Robin Wagner and Lukas Larsson also won in singles for No. 6 Vanguard (7-4). The doubles teams of Muri and Yahor Kryvaruchka, as well as Wagner and Larsson, were also victorious for Vanguard.


San Diego Mesa 5, Orange Coast 4

COSTA MESA — No. 1 singles player Pat Wright, No. 2 Rex Miller and No. 4 Andrew Pham won for the Pirates in the nonconference match Thursday.

Wright and Miller won at No. 1 doubles for OCC (3-9).



El Camino 5, Orange Coast 4

COSTA MESA — Nory Call, Nicole Pham and Remi Sutton won in singles for the Pirates in the nonconference match Thursday.

Orange Coast dropped to 6-3.
