Newport Harbor def. Los Alamitos

LOS ALAMITOS — Kevin Rakestraw and Clay Carr had 15 kills each to help the Sailors rally to win the Sunset League match, 20-25, 28-30, 25-22, 25-21, 15-10 Friday night.

Peirce Ward had 12 kills, Max Richley had 17 digs, Nic Sargeant had 13 digs, Steven Duhoux had 12 digs and Connor Leggett had 41 assists for Newport Harbor (13-5, 3-0 in league).

Sage Hill def. Whitney

CERRITOS — Jack Burgi had 17 kills and six digs to help lead the Lightning to a 25-19, 28-26, 22-25, 25-22 Academy League win Friday.

Kent Kawaguchi had 43 assists, 10 kills and four blocks, and Creagan Lydon had seven kills and three blocks for Sage Hill (13-10, 3-1 in league), ranked No. 8 in CIF Southern Section Division 4.

Whitney is ranked No. 10 in Division 4.

CORONA DEL MAR — Parker Brown had 13 kills, three digs and four aces to help the Sea Kings win the Pacific Coast League conference, 25-17, 25-17, 25-14, Friday.

James Christian (six kills, one solo block, four block assists), Jack Reed (five kills, five block assists), Joey Martino (five kills, six digs), Xan Yelich (five kills) and Joe Ctvrtlik (31 assists, two blocks) also contributed for CdM (14-4, 4-0 in league).

Corona del Mar 2, University 1

IRVINE — Andrew McCormack pitched a complete game, improved to 5-0 and drove in the game-winning run for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Friday.

McCormack allowed six hits. His single in the sixth inning brought in Cort Hastings to break a 1-1 tie in the top of the sixth inning.

Aaron White delivered an RBI single in the first inning for CdM (9-3, 4-1 in league), which plays at Beckman Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Dana Hills Coastal Tournament

LAGUNA NIGUEL — Corona del Mar High advanced to the championship match by winning two matches Friday. The Sea Kings got past host Dana Hills, 8-1, before blanking Davis High from Northern California, 9-0, in the semifinals at Laguna Niguel Racket Club.

Using a college format, CdM took a 3-0 lead on Davis after doubles. Alec Adamson and Carson Williams won, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles, and Alex Murray and Henry Gordon won, 8-5, at No. 2 doubles. Zach Williams and Dan Anastos won, 8-2, at No. 3 doubles.

Adamson, Gordon, Carson Williams, Murray, Zach Williams and Anastos then all won in singles.

CdM plays University in the tournament final at 11 a.m. Saturday at Laguna Niguel Racket Club.
