Brandon Young was two for four and Adonis Tountas was one for four with a run batted in to pace the Lions (18-17, 8-15 in conference).

COSTA MESA — Ashley Arrington went three for three and Nicolette Lujan was two for three with a pair of runs batted in to pace the host Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference game Monday.

Amy Hartwell, an Estancia High product, was two for three, as was Rebecca Kendrick for OCC.

WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD

Big West Challenge

FULLERTON — UC Irvine’s Amber Middleton won the 100-meter hurdles in 13.71 seconds and Erika Nowell won the 400 in 55.86 to highlight the Anteaters on Sunday at Cal State Fullerton.

Middleton and Nowell also contributed to the winning 4x400 relay that also included KayC Wharton and Kelly Collins. The quartet clocked a time of three minutes, 45.33 seconds.

Itos Aikhionbare was second in the shot put (45 feet, 73/4 inches) and the discus (143-1), while Collins was second in the 400 hurdles (1:02.87).

George was third in the 100 in 12.18 and fourth in the 200 in 25.06.

Sakia Sailinuu was third (2:14.16) and Chelsea Schneider was fourth (2:15.65) in the 800, while Samia Sailinuu was fourth in the 1,500 in 4:38.74.

Wharton was fourth in the 400 hurdles in 1:02.97.

UCI was third in the team competition.

MEN’S TRACK & FIELD

Big West Challenge

FULLERTON — Mike Kennedy won the 100 meters and was third in the long jump, while Charles Jock won the 400 and Jacob Yowell won the 110 hurdles to pace the Anteaters on Sunday at Cal State Fullerton.

Kennedy’s time in the 100 was 10.63 seconds, while his long jump mark was 22-51/4

Jock topped the field in 47.17, while Yowell paced the hurdles field in 14.19.

Kennedy was also on the winning 4x100 quartet that included Chris Carson, Dominic Jester and Yowell. Their time was 41.49.

The 4x400 relay of Jock, Carson, Yowell and Jester was second in 3 minutes, 11.49 seconds.

Steven Melena was second in the 3,000 in 8:29.75 and Trevor Wightman was third in the 400 hurdles in 54.43.

Brett Matejka (9:25.5) and Tommy Newton-Neal (9:28) were third and fourth, respectively, in the 3,000 steeplechase.

Jester was third in the 200 in 22.01 and Cam Mitchell was third in the 800 in 1:55.13.

Stephen Brown was second in the pole vault with a clearance of 16 feet, 03/4 inches, and Alex Campbell was third in the high jump (6-8 3/4).

UCI was third in the team standings.

MEN’S TENNIS

UC Irvine 7, UC Davis 0

DAVIS — The visiting Anteaters won their fourth match in a row on Sunday, behind straight-set wins by Sam Gould (No. 1 singles) and Jacob Jung (No. 2 singles).

UCI (6-15, 3-1 in conference) wraps up its Big West Conference regular-season slate on Saturday against visiting Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. A win would give UCI a share of the Big West title with Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara.

MEN’S GOLF

Western Intercollegiate

SANTA CRUZ — UC Irvine moved up two spots in the final round to finish eighth in the 14-team event concluded Sunday at Pasatiempo Golf Club.

UCI sophomore Allan Jun finished 23rd with a 54-hole total of 219, while redshirt freshman Pete Fernandez was 28th at 220.

Ryan Knapp was 45th at 225.
