HALF MOON BAY — UC Irvine redshirt freshman Michelle Yang shot a career-best three-under-par 69 on the final round and finished tied for 36th to lead the Anteaters at the Ocean Course at Half Moon Bay Golf Links on Tuesday.

UCI finished 14th in the 15-team field.

Yang’s 69 matches Brenna Carlson and Sarah Beak’s career best for the lowest round by an Anteater this season.

Junior Michelle Park finished tied for 49th (225) for UCI.

UCI will compete at the Big West Championships Sunday through Tuesday at the San Luis Obispo Country Club.

MEN’S TENNIS

Vanguard 6, Point Loma Nazarene 3

COSTA MESA — Lucas Pereira was one of four singles players picking up wins for the ninth-ranked Lions in a Golden State Athletic Conference match on Tuesday.

The other three Vanguard singles players were Roger Muri, Yahor Kryvaruchka and Lukas Larsson.

The Lions improved to 11-9, 5-5 in conference.

Point Loma Nazarene 6, Vanguard 3

COSTA MESA — Grabriela Bergmanova earned two of the team’s three victories in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles play in the 15th-ranked Lions’ Golden State Athletic Conference match on Tuesday.

Ekaterin Gabashvili won in No. 3 singles for Vanguard (8-11, 7-5 in conference).

SOFTBALL

Doubleheader

ORANGE — Brittney Boggs went two for four with one run batted in and one run scored to help Vanguard spilt with Chapman after a 4-2 win in the nightcap Tuesday at El Camino Real Park.

Breanne Gomez (one RBI), Elizabeth Archer (one run) and Adriana Venezia had two hits each in the first game for the Lions, who lost, 3-2.

Vanguard is 30-22. Chapman is 19-12.
