Vikings honor college-bound athletes

Marina High held a mock signing day Tuesday for its senior athletes who previously signed a national letter of intent.

The following Vikings took part in the celebration: Raquel Rosas (Air Force Academy, women’s volleyball); Natalie Kridel (Sacred Heart University, women’s volleyball); Sandra Simmons (LSU, softball); Amanda Cordeiro (Chico State, softball); Alex Waked (Holy Cross, football); Arianna Sisson (Colorado State University-Pueblo, women’s soccer); Karin Jester (Cal State Monterey Bay, women’s water polo); Mikayla Ellsworth (Colorado Mesa University, women’s soccer); Laura Hollander (Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, women’s track and field); Madison Cashman (Columbia College, women’s soccer); Victoria Clardy (Cal State Monterey Bay, women’s volleyball).

Youth soccer tryouts are Monday

AYSO Region 143 (Huntington Beach) will hold a tryout for its EXTRA program Monday at Meadow View School, 5702 Clark Drive, Huntington Beach. Tryouts for boys and girls in the Under-9 through -12 divisions is from 10 a.m. to noon. The U13 and U14 division tryouts are between 1 and 3 p.m.

Participants are asked to attend both tryouts and to arrive 20 minutes prior to each session to check in. The AYSO EXTRA program offers a more advanced level of competition than its standard program.

Barons golf tourney set

The Fountain Valley High School Football Boosters is hosting the seventh annual “Moose Invitational” Golf Tournament on June 25 at the Classic Course at Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley. The cost is $150 per golfer, which includes contests and prizes. Registration for the event is at https://www.barongolf.com.

The annual event helps raise money for the Fountain Valley football program and the Michael Musso Memorial Fund. Musso, a 2004 graduate of Fountain Valley High School, lost his life in a car accident in 2005. Through the fundraiser, a scholarship is given to a four-year Barons football player each year.
