Share

The U.S. Olympic women’s water polo team, which includes Annika Dries of Laguna Beach, completed a four-game sweep of Hungary on Sunday by scoring a 9-4 victory at Corona del Mar High. Dries didn’t score but she drew an exclusion and came up with a steal, which led to two U.S. scores.

The teams played a four-game exhibition series that started July 2. Dries scored single goals in 17-8 and 14-8 victories in the first two games of the series. The U.S. won the third game, 7-6, Friday at UC San Diego.

“We played really well this series,” Dries said after Sunday’s win. “It was a great way to get ready for the Olympics, and I can’t wait to get to London. We’ll be seeing them (Hungary) again real soon.”
