H.B. Pier gearing up for U.S. Open of Surfing

Nine days of non-stop action at the Huntington Beach Pier gets underway July 28 with the start of the 2012 Nike U.S. Open of Surfing. The annual event, which showcases surfing, skate competitions, music and art, runs through Aug. 5. All events are fee and open to the public. Edison hoops camp starts Monday

The 13th annual Edison Basketball Summer Youth Camp starts Monday at the Edison High gym. The camp is for youth ages 8 to 13 and runs from 1 to 4 p.m. daily through July 27. The cost is $120 per camper and includes a complimentary basketball.

Club H Volleyball clinics available

Club H Volleyball has begun instruction in its inaugural summer clinics this month and in August at Golden West College. Two Session 1 dates remain: Sunday and July 29. Session 2 dates are: Aug. 5, 12, 19, 26.

The cost is $100 per session and $175 for both sessions. Instruction for players under 14 is from 4 and 6 p.m. Instruction for players 15 and older is from 6 to 8 p.m.

Racquetball winners crowned

The Roundabout Entertainment World Outdoor Racquetball Championships ended Sunday at Marina Community Park in Huntington Beach. The tournament, which started July 12, included competition in 30 adult and junior divisions.
