COSTA MESA — Sophomore Karlee Riggs had 17 kills and 10 digs to lead the host Pirates’ 25-11, 25-18, 25-14 Orange Empire Conference triumph Friday.

Isabel Emrich had nine kills and hit .471 for the Pirates (9-0, 3-0 in conference), for whom Allison Lumsden had 39 assists.

IRVINE — Ella Rosenfeld had six kills, hit .545 and had three block assists to pace the host Anteaters in a 25-18, 25-15, 25-18 Big West Conference setback Friday.

UCI (8-10, 3-2 in conference) hit .052 as a team.

Aly Squires had 13 kills and Kristin Winkler had 21 digs for the ‘Eaters.

UOP is 15-2, 3-1.

UC Santa Barbara 2, UC Irvine 1

SANTA BARBARA — The host Gauchos scored in the second overtime to prevail in the Big West Conference contest Friday in front of 7,822 at Harder Stadium.

Sophomore Trey Hayes scored an unassisted goal in the 19th minute to give the UCI (3-8-1. 0-3 in conference) the early lead.

But UCSB (8-0-3, 2-0-1) pulled even in the 49th minute.

The Gauchos posted a 21-13 advantage in shots as Marco Franco topped UCI with four shots.

It was the sixth straight defeat for UCI, which is winless in its last nine matches.

Cal Poly SLO 2, UC Irvine 1

IRVINE — The visiting Mustangs scored 77 seconds into overtime to hand the Anteaters only their second loss in their last 20 Big West Conference games on Friday.

Natalie Ledezma scored on an assist from Dana Sanderlin to put UCI (6-8, 2-1 in conference) on top in the 56th minute, but Cal Poly (6-5-1, 3-0) got the equalizer in the 88th minute.

UCI, the two-time defending conference regular-season champions, posted a 20-6 advantage in shots.
