Briefs: Fischer named to youth national water polo team

Makenzie Fischer, a sophomore at Laguna Beach High, was named Monday to the USA Water Polo Women's Youth National Team. Fischer was one of 13 players named to the 18-and-under team which is coached by Kyle Kopp and assistant coaches Alison Gregorka and Paul Felton.

The USA Youth National Team will compete at the FINA Youth World Championships Dec. 1-9 at Perth, Australia.


Volleyball clinics available

Junior Breakers Volleyball Clinics, a series of youth volleyball classes presented by Laguna Beach High boys' volleyball Coach Scott Panaro, are underway at the North Gym on the Laguna Beach campus.

The clinics are designed for boys ages 14 and younger and of all skill levels. Clinic dates and costs are now through Dec. 16 (one per week); now through Dec. 19 (21 total classes); Sunday through Nov. 18 (five classes $125); Nov. 25-Dec. 19 (eight classes, $200).

Turkey Trot registration open

Registration is open to Laguna Beach residents for the 35th annual Dana Point Turkey Trot. The Nov. 22 event includes a 5K, 10K, Kids' Gobble Wobble, a two-day health and fitness expo, and finish line festival.
