MEN’S WATER POLO

Pacific 14, UC Irvine 12

IRVINE — Not even a home game against the eighth-place team in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation on Friday could help UC Irvine snap a losing streak that threatens to deny the Anteaters a bid in the eight-team MPSF Tournament.

No. 9-ranked UCI, which has lost six straight, is 14-9, 0-6 in conference, with only two MPSF matches remaining. A win at Long Beach State on Nov. 11 and a 49ers loss to Pacific on Sunday would be the Anteaters’ best bet to avoid a last-place finish in the nine-team conference.

The six-game skid is UCI’s longest losing streak since it lost its final eight games in 1999.

Junior Mitch Wise tied his career high with six goals and Blake Terry added three for UCI.

UOP is 10-7, 1-2.
