Boys’ Water Polo: CdM’s Chase earns PCL’s top honor

Corona del Mar High senior Reid Chase has been named Pacific Coast League boys’ water polo MVP after helping the Sea Kings win the league for the 14th straight year.

CdM senior goalkeeper Patrick McKenzie, senior Kyle Trush and senior Colby Watson join Chase on the first team.

CdM senior Danny Marshall earned second-team all-league honors.

Chase led the league with 84 goals scored and added 31 assists and 36 steals. He helped CdM go 23-7, 10-0 in league. The Sea Kings won the FINIS Memorial Cup and advanced to the CIF Southern Section Division 1 semifinals.

McKenzie had 203 saves for CdM. Trush, who verbally committed to UC Irvine, was fourth on the team with 33 goals and tied for third with Chase with 36 steals.

Watson had 27 goals, 30 assists and 16 steals.

Chase, McKenzie, Trush and Watson were the team’s four team captains.
