College Roundup: UCI falls to Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utes scored 30 points in the paint and out-rebounded the Anteaters, 56-24, in the nonconference game Thursday.

Senior guard Anete Klintsone scored all eight of her team-high points in the second half and had a team-best four assists for UCI (3-8).

Junior guard Kelly Meggs and freshman forward Mokun Fajemisin each added six points, with Meggs and sophomore forward Methlyn Onogomuho grabbing a team-high four rebounds for the Anteaters. UCI senior forward Cheyenne Cathey recorded five points.

Utah is 9-1.

The Anteaters play at Cal State Bakersfield on Dec. 28 at 7 p.m.


Orange Coast 72, Glendale 39

SAN DIEGO — Freshman Dayanara Armenta led the Pirates with 21 points to open the San Diego Mesa tournament Thursday.

Sophomore Jalecia Wilson added 12 points for OCC (6-5).

The Pirates play in the semifinals of the eight-team tournament on Friday.
