Little League: Zero Trash hits first home run of season

Share

Zero Trash might not have picked up a victory in its AAA Division game against Crescent Bay Advisors, but it did record the first home run of the 2013 season at Laguna Beach Little League.

In a game that was delayed by rain, Crescent Bay Advisors completed a 9-3 victory on Saturday over Zero Trash. Connor Fink of Zero Trash hit the first home run of the season, a two-run homer in the third inning at Riddle Field. Teammate Jack Payne struck out four in two innings of pitching.

Later in the game, the second home run was recorded when Jeremy Hayes of Crescent Bay Advisors smashed a three-run homer.

FOR THE RECORD:
An earlier version of this story incorrectly indicated that Zero Trash won the game. They lost to Crescent Bay Advisors, 9-3.

The game was resumed Saturday due to a heavy downpour a day earlier on March 8.

Zero Trash won its second game and Fink delivered his second home run of the season on Wednesday in a 12-5 victory over Gapp Construction.

In AAA Division play Tuesday, Laguna Beach Sportsworld was edged, 9-8, by the Laguna Hills Hawks. Caden Capobianco hit a grand slam, inside-the-park home run to put Sportsworld ahead early in the game. Ryan Anthony threw the opening two innings, Will Keary closed on the mound, and Max Rossi made a catch of a line drive at third base to prevent the Hawks from scoring. Sportsworld’s Brady Soloff fractured his foot sliding into home plate late in the game.
