College Roundup: Mercado-Kiel, Pollema lead OCC

Orange Empire Conference meet

SANTA ANA — Marcos Mercado-Kiel and Kyle Pollema both shot two-under-par 70 to earn medalist honors and help Orange Coast go 7-0 Wednesday at Santa Ana Country Club.

Kyle Melchiorre (73), Michael Chen (73), Riley Murphy (74) and David Pelekoudas (75) also scored for the Pirates (16-5 in conference.

OCC finished at 360, followed by Santiago Canyon (374), Cuyumaca (378), Cypress (381), Riverside (385), Palomar (387), Irvine Valley (389) and Saddleback (391).

OCC plays in another OEC meet Monday at Twin Oaks Golf Course in San Marcos.

COSTA MESA — Johannes Brink recorded 21 kills to help lead the Pirates to a 25-21, 25-21, 26-24 Pacific Coast Conference win Wednesday.

OCC (9-3, 5-1 in conference) will play host to San Diego Mesa Friday at 6 p.m.

IVC is 9-3, 3-3.
