UC Irvine junior Andrew Thurman was named Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week after tossing his fifth career complete game against Nebraska on Friday.

Thurman struck out a career-high 11 and held the Huskers to five hits while walking one in the 2-1 nonconference victory.

Thurman protected an early 2-0 lead, working out of a first and third, one-out jam in the fourth and then handling a come-backer to start the game-ending double-play in the ninth.

The Anteaters (14-4) are idle this week due to finals and return to action March 26 at Cal State Bakersfield.
