Vu finishes T19 at CIF state championship

Andre Vu of Fountain Valley High capped his 2013 season and career with the Barons on Wednesday at the CIF Boys’ Golf State Championship.

Vu finished in a four-way tie for 19th place with a three-over-par 74 at Quail Lodge in Carmel.

Jack Chung of Sunny Hills won the individual title with a five-under 66.

Vu, a senior who committed to UC Riverside earlier this year, advanced to the state final after finishing among the top six golfers on May 30 at the CIF/SCGA Regional Qualifier Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena.

He was one of 28 golfers to advance to the regional.

Vu started his postseason run on May 13 at the CIF Southern Section Southern Division Regional at Skylinks Golf Course in Long Beach where he tied for 15th place. That finish advanced him to the CIF Southern Section Individual Final Championship on May 20, when he tied for third place at La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc.
