Vanguard’s Arellano, Licciardi earn honors

Vanguard University freshman Juan Arellano has been named Golden State Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week and Lions’ sophomore Luca Licciardi was named Defensive Player of the Week in men’s soccer.

Both played key roles in a 3-0 upset of then-top-ranked Mobile on Saturday in Alabama. Arellano, a midfielder, had one goal and one assist against Mobile.

Licciardi, a goalkeeper, had two saves in the shutout against Mobile. He had four saves in a 1-0 loss to William Carey on Friday, as William Carey scored its lone goal on a deflection.
