High School Roundup: CdM’s Abdulghany medalist

CIF Southern Section Southern Division Team Championships

Freshman Alyaa Abdulghany finished as the medalist at three-under-par 67 to lead Corona del Mar High to a fifth-place finish Thursday at Costa Mesa Country Club’s Mesa Linda course.

The Sea Kings shot 400 as a team.

Amy Matsuoka (72), Karlie Moses (85), Kellie King (86), Gabby Finear (90) and Hanna Hogan (95) also competed for CdM.

Abdulghany and Matsuoka will compete in the CIF Southern Section Individual Championship and WSCGA Qualifying Tournament Thursday at Talega Golf Club in San Clemente.

Corona del Mar 15, Beckman 5

IRVINE — Jay Neiger scored four goals and Ben Brooks added three goals for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Thursday at Beckman.

Wade Munger and Alec Barber scored two goals each for CdM, while goalie Ryan Hamm made seven saves and goalie Nigel Bress made five saves.
