The doubles team of Kimmia Naaseh and Kenzie Purcifull led the way for the host Sea Kings in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs on Wednesday.

Lily Goddard, Karina Ryabokonova, Robin Caston, Gigi Gill, Ashley Kayl and Jamie Adamson all won for fourth-seeded CdM (17-3).

The Sea Kings play at Brentwood (12-3) in the second round on Friday at 2 p.m. Brentwood defeated Mater Dei, 10-8, in the first round.

Sage Hill 10, Cypress 8

Celine Wang, Jaclyn Gerschultz and Amira Tarsadia won six singles sets for the host Lightning in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs on Wednesday.

Sage Hill (9-5) plays the winner of Arcadia-Sunny Hills in the second round on Friday at 2 p.m.

Abby Ruck and Natalie Meltzer, Sage Hill’s No 3 doubles team, won two sets.

Northwood 13, Newport Harbor 5

Sophomores Anna Burke and Kendall Cosenza, playing No. 1 doubles, won two of three sets for the Sailors in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs at home on Wednesday.

Kate Knight, playing No. 1 singles, won a set for Newport Harbor, as did the No. 2 doubles team of Reagan Rutter and Annie LaGrandeur.

The Sailors finished 14-8 overall and second in the Sunset League.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Sage Hill 16, Estancia 6

Cody Nelson scored three goals for the Eagles in the Orange Coast League game Wednesday.

Eli Sperling added two goals and Chris De Frenza scored one goal for Estancia. Goalie Cesar Coto made eight saves and John Leal finished with three saves for the Eagles.
