WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Orange Coast 67, Cypress 55

CYPRESS — Sophomore guard Dayanara Armenta led four Pirates in double figures with 19 points in the Orange Empire Conference game Friday.

The win extended the winning streak to five for OCC (15-9, 6-2 in conference). The Pirates solidified their hold on second place and stayed one-game behind Saddleback, which will play host to the Pirates on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Chanelle Di Croce had 15 points, while Jasmine Matar added 12 points, six rebounds and four assists for OCC.

Raechelle Davis had 11 points and six rebounds for OCC.

BASEBALL

Doubleheader

SAN LUIS OBISPO — Led by a pair of Hills on the hill, visiting Orange Coast College swept a nonconference doubleheader on Friday.

David Hill allowed four hits and no earned runs in five innings of a 9-1 win in a nine-inning Game 2, while Jacob Hill allowed two hits and one earned run in four innings of a 3-1 triumph in the seven-inning Game 1.

Daniel Delaney and Cody Maples both went three for four with two runs batted in in the second game to lead the Pirates’ 14-hit attack.

Chris Iriart was three for seven with an RBI in the two games for OCC (4-0), ranked No. 2 in Southern California.

No. 10-ranked Cuesta is 0-4.

Westmont 12, Vanguard 2

SANTA BARBARA — Nick Rodda went three for three with one run batted in and a stolen base and Taylor McKnight was two for four for the visiting Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Friday.

Three Westmont pitchers held Vanguard (8-1, 3-1 in conference) to seven hits, while the Warriors had 15 hits.

Westmont is 4-5, 2-5.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

UC Irvine def. Pacific

STOCKTON — Senior middle blocker Scott Kevorken and senior outside hitter Jeremy Dejno led the visiting Anteaters to a 25-20, 25-22, 25-16 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation sweep on Friday.

Kevorken had 12 kills and hit .688 with three block assists and two aces, while Dejno had 13 kills and hit .611 to help No. 9-ranked UCI improve to 7-6, 4-5 in conference.

Connor Hughes had nine kills and hit .533 as UCI hit .481 as a team.

Roberto Frazzoni had 43 assists and five aces for UCI.

Pacific is 1-9, 0-7.

SANTA BARBARA — Jimmy Webb had 13 kills, four blocks and four aces to lead the visiting Pirates to a 25-20, 25-20, 25-16 sweep of Friday’s nonconference match.

Ty Hutchings had 12 kills and Brendan Duff added 33 assists and two aces for the winners (4-0).

Santa Barbara is 2-1.

CYPRESS — Devaun Evans led four Pirates in double figures with 21 points in the Orange Empire Conference road game on Friday.

Evans had eight rebounds, while Noah Prouse and Brad Buchignani had 17 and 15 points, respectively, to go with their six rebounds.

Jonah Ganz added 12 points off the bench for OCC (8-17, 2-6 in conference).

Cypress fell to 7-17, 2-7.

SOFTBALL

Cal State San Marcos 8, Vanguard 2

Junior Shelby Kuryllo went two for three to lead the host Lions’ seven-hit attack in the nonconference game Friday.

The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was suspended due to darkness with the teams tied, 3-3, in the sixth inning.

Vanguard is 4-2 and San Marcos is 8-0.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

UC Irvine 4, San Diego State 0

SAN DIEGO — Sophomore Sarah Stadfelt won in singles and doubles to pace the host Anteaters in the nonconference match on Friday.

Stadfelt posted a 6-3- 6-3 triumph at No. 6 singles and teamed with senior Brooke Schweyer to earn a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles for the winners (2-3).

The Aztecs are 3-2.
