The Laguna Beach High boys’ track and field team starts its 2014 season on Thursday at El Dorado. A year ago, the Breakers sent 18 athletes to CIF Southern Section competition and on several occasions set and reset the school record for the boys’ 4x100-meter relay team.

Head coach Scott Wittkop, in his sixth year, guided Laguna to a second-place finish last year in the Orange Coast League.

The Breakers have several returning varsity performers including Nathan Lancaster (throws/sprints), who was part of the record-setting 4x100 relay team last year, Nathan Wylie (throws); Kyler Pike (jumps), who was all-league in 2013, Mike Santana (jumps), Sam Woglis (jumps), Charlie Warner (jumps/hurdles), Cale Aries (hurdles), Grant Barton (distance), Cameron Zuziak (distance), Casey Kowpowski (distance), Drake Butler (distance), and Mason Pitz (distance).
