LAGUNA HILLS — Ryan McCully drove in the game-winning run in the top of the sixth inning on Friday, helping the visiting Sailors close out Foothill Division play of the Newport Elks Tournament with a 4-1 record.

Jonah Dipoto picked up the win and Connor Seabold the save.

The Sailors play rival Corona del Mar in a Battle of the Bay doubleheader at UC Irvine on Monday. The first game is at 4 p.m.

Costa Mesa 24, Santa Ana Valley 4

COSTA MESA — Connor Howard picked up the win for the host Mustangs in their last OC Division game at the Newport Elks Tournament on Friday.

Howard struck out nine and allowed three hits and no earned runs in five innings.

The game went on five innings because of the mercy rule.

Costa Mesa (2-3) starts Orange Coast League play at home against rival Estancia on Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. The rival programs will play three times next week.

Jackson Letterman went one for three with a run batted in, a double and stolen base in the Eagles’ final OC Division game at the Newport Elks Tournament on Friday.

Colin Gardner had a double and a run for Estancia (1-4), and Jason Rodriguez had a hit with a run.

The Eagles open Orange Coast League play at Costa Mesa on Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. The game is the first of three next week between the rival programs.
