Locals nominated for OC All-Star Football Game

Fifteen Newport-Mesa seniors have been nominated to play in the 55th Brea Lions Club Orange County North-South Prep All-Star Football Game at Orange Coast College on July 10.

If selected in the coming weeks, the locals will represent the South team.

Costa Mesa has the most nominations out of the four Newport-Mesa Unified School District schools with a half a dozen. Oronde Crenshaw, a running back and linebacker, leads the group, along with Joseph Quiroz, a tight end and defensive end, Quinton Bell, a wide receiver and safety, lineman Marco Zalpa, Oliver Ferris, a quarterback and safety, and Daniel Lawrence, a receiver and cornerback.

Corona del Mar, the defending the CIF Southern Section Southern Division and CIF State Division III Bowl Game champion, has four nominations with center Giovanni Gentosi, quarterback Luke Napolitano, defensive back Charlie Griffin, and guard Brett Olson.

Newport Harbor, the CIF Southern Section Southwest Division runner-up, has three nominees, lineman Ramsey Hufford, and Quest Truxton and Cory Stowell, both play receiver and cornerback.

Estancia’s nominees are lineman Osvaldo Villafana and linebacker Zack Shafer.
