A married couple were arrested on suspicion of drug possession and counterfeiting, according to Irvine police.

Irvine residents Christopher Shopshire, 26, and Stacie Shopshire, 25, are both on parole for convictions related to robbery, burglary, fraud and drug charges, according to authorities.

“A condition of their parole is that they are not to associate with one another, as they are known to commit crimes together,” police said in a news release.

About 11 a.m. Wednesday, officers found the two together in a car, police said. Officers searched the car and found counterfeit $100 bills, police said.

Police said they then searched an Irvine home and an Orange motel room associated with the couple and discovered more suspected contraband.

Methamphetamine, heroin, prescription pills, fake checks and equipment used to make fake currency were found at the house, according to police; fake bills, a knife and a baton were found at the hotel room.

Police said both Shopshires were arrested on suspicion of violating their probation, manufacturing counterfeit bills, possession of counterfeit bills, possession of fraudulent checks and drug charges.
