Tesla wins Mayor’s Award

Tesla Motors, the Palo Alto-based electric car and energy storage company that maintains two facilities in Costa Mesa, was honored this week by Mayor Steve Mensinger with the Mayor’s Award.

Tesla Store Manager Peter Najera and Service Manager Joe Estrada were presented with the award, given during Tuesday’s City Council meeting.

“We are deeply honored, and this is a wonderful and amazing thing that you have done for us,” Najera said in a statement. “We are thrilled to be here in Costa Mesa. It’s a perfect location.”

Tesla has a showroom at 3140 Pullman St., near John Wayne Airport. In fall 2014, it expanded by taking over a second building nearby, at 3020 Pullman, that serves as a service center — one of two in Orange County.

“A typical day finds six service advisors and 20 service technicians servicing 30-35 vehicles per day, making the Costa Mesa location the No. 1 Tesla service center in terms of volume in the entire nation,” Costa Mesa officials said in a news release.
