A Costa Mesa man was arrested on allegations that he broke into a student housing unit at UC Irvine last week and exposed himself to a resident inside.
On Friday afternoon, UCI police arrested Ryan Chong, 34, on suspicion of burglary and indecent exposure.
Chong was booked into Orange County Jail with bail set at $20,000 and was released Saturday after posting bond, according to authorities.
Police said a resident in a bedroom at the student apartment heard noises coming from the living room at about 10 p.m. June 8.
The intruder entered the bedroom and exposed himself to the resident, who chased him out of the apartment and snapped a photo of him before he fled, police said.
The arrest was made in Irvine after community members responded to reports about the incident that included the photo, which was released by UCI police.
The department said it received several calls identifying the man in the photo.
