Laguna police plan to step up DUI patrols this weekend
Laguna Beach police will be on high alert this weekend for drug- and alcohol-impaired drivers.
The department plans saturation patrols between 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday in areas with high frequencies of DUI crashes and arrests, according to a news release. Specific locations were not announced.

In California, intoxicated driving led to 1,155 deaths and nearly 24,000 injuries in 2014, according to statistics provided by the Laguna Beach Police Department.
The patrol operation is funded through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
