A Newport Beach man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding hit the wall of an overpass on the 73 Freeway and ejected him over the side of the elevated roadway, the California Highway Patrol said.

Ryan Thomas Breslin, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene early Saturday as a result of multiple blunt force injuries, the Orange County coroner’s office said.

Breslin was traveling south just before 2:15 a.m. when he exited the 73 at MacArthur Boulevard, the CHP said. The 2018 Harley-Davidson motorcycle crashed into the left wall of the off-ramp, and Breslin was ejected over the side of the bridge and landed in the brush below, authorities said.

Based on a preliminary investigation, it appeared Breslin was traveling at high speed, the CHP said. It was not immediately known whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, authorities said.
