Volunteers seek a spot in the cast of Laguna’s Pageant of the Masters

Volunteers lined up in Laguna Beach on Friday night for the chance to stand still and look iconic in the next Pageant of the Masters.

The “living pictures” show, a Laguna tradition since the 1930s, will hold additional open casting calls at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Festival of Arts grounds, 650 Laguna Canyon Road. Volunteers of all ages and sizes are invited.

The theme for the 2019 show, which will run July 7 through Aug. 31, is “The Time Machine.” Cast members must be able to remain still for at least 90 seconds as they depict famous artworks by Norman Rockwell, Georges Seurat, Johannes Vermeer and others.
