South nominees for OC All-Star Football game released

Seven football players from the Newport-Mesa Unified School District were nominated to the South region team for the 57th annual Brea Lions Orange County North-South All-Star Football Game, set for July 8 at Orange Coast College.
Players were nominated by their school or the media for the game.
The game rosters will be announced in the coming weeks.
From Corona del Mar, seniors Karl Donovan (5-foot-11,185-pound linebacker), Joe Anderson (6-0, 230, defensive tackle) and Mitch Dean (6-5, 275, offensive tackle) were nominated. Estancia’s Connor Brown (6-3, 225, quarterback) is also up for consideration, as are Newport Harbor’s Max Spruill (6-3, 265, DT/OT); Elliot Frye (6-2, 220, defensive end/center), Reed Rutter (5-10, 160, defensive back/wide receiver) and Max Durante (6-2, 220, tight end/LB).
Buena Park’s Anthony White will coach the North. Laguna Hills’ Mike Maceranka will guide the South.
