Glendale City Council Meeting Preview: Sidewalk repair project

Share

The City Council on Tuesday will consider a $385,000-contract with Vart Construction Inc. for the installation of new curb ramps and deteriorated or broken sidewalks.

The project will also include the replacement of trees that have overgrown the parkway or are dying.

Construction is scheduled to start in July and run through November.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The council is expected to approve the contract since the work will help the city meet federal accessibility requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Beeline contract amendment

The council will consider increasing the city’s current contract with transit consulting firm Dan Boyle & Associates Inc. by $15,000, which would bring the total contract to about $100,000.

The firm has conducted a route analysis for the city’s Beeline bus system to help determine potential service cuts as the city grapples with reduced funding. Recommendations include service reductions and restructured hours of service along a number of the Beeline routes.

The contract amendment will cover additional work to create new route timetables needed based on the service changes.

City officials say the firm’s expertise is needed because of the complexity of some of the proposed service changes.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The council will likely approve the contract amendment.
