Crescenta Valley Briefs: CV Town Council meeting; SAT exam practice

The Crescenta Valley Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20 at the Crescenta Valley Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta.

The meeting will be held in the library’s community room on the second floor.

Agenda items include tips on identifying drought-stricken trees, signage along Foothill Boulevard as well as ideas to beautify the community’s main thoroughfare.

Students can take a practice SAT exam from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the La Crescenta Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta.

The exam is reserved for teens ages 14 to 18. Space is limited. Interested test-takers can sign up at the library’s information desk.

The organization Progressive Individual Leadership of Teens will host its “Thanksgiving for All” event from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the YMCA Foothills Crescenta-Cañada location, 1930 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta.

The potluck-style event will be open to the public. Dishes are welcome and must have a recipe card attached. Event organizers also plan to collect 100 canned food items and 25 pieces of clothing for charity donations.

The event will also include games, storytelling and music.

The CV Alliance will host a talk titled “Current Trends and What to Look For” from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the library at Crescenta Valley High School, 2900 Community Ave., La Crescenta.

Deputy Eric Matejka with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will lead the discussion, which is part of the organization’s “Parent Sessions” series. The event is free and open to the public.

The La Crescenta Woman’s Club is selling tickets for its annual “Breakfast with Santa” event, which will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Dec. 6.

The event will be at the organization’s clubhouse, 4004 La Crescenta Ave., La Crescenta.

Children can have their pictures taken with Santa and receive a small gift. Arts and crafts will be provided in addition to raffles for prizes.
