Glendale police on Monday released surveillance footage of a man suspected of breaking into the Glendale YMCA and a local church in September, police said.

On Sept. 7, the man allegedly broke into and ransacked two offices in the Glendale YMCA, located at 140 N. Louise St., said Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

Authorities believe he took off with a $1,600 guitar, loose change and a box of candy.

That same day, the suspect was caught on video tampering with and covering security cameras at the First United Methodist Church, located at 134 N. Kenwood St., Lightfoot said.

Several doors and a cabinet were pried open and the office storage area was ransacked, though nothing seemed to be missing.

The suspect is described as roughly 40 years old, around 5 feet 11 and about 340 pounds. He had shaggy black hair and a mustache and goatee, officials said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Glendale Police Det. Verooj Karibyan at (818) 548-2097.
