Officers chased a stolen vehicle at high speeds through Costa Mesa and Santa Ana early Tuesday but were unable to make any arrests, authorities said.

Costa Mesa police tried to stop the beige Honda Accord for a traffic violation at 2:36 a.m. near 17th Street and Newport Boulevard. But instead of stopping, the driver sped away, police Sgt. Bang Le said.

Officers learned the car had been reported stolen and pursued it to a home in the 2900 block of Raymar Street in Santa Ana, where the driver fled on foot into a house, Le said.

Police detained everyone in the house but could not immediately identify the driver. Police are continuing to investigate, Le said.

“Thankfully there were no collisions or injuries,” he said.
