Pedestrian struck by car in Laguna Beach

A pedestrian was struck by a car while crossing South Coast Highway in Laguna Beach on Thursday night, according to police.

Authorities responded at 6:33 p.m. to reports of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at the intersection with Calliope Street, said Sgt. Tim Kleiser

The pedestrian, who was in a marked crosswalk when struck by a vehicle heading north on the highway, was taken to a hospital after complaining of pain, Kleiser said.

It was not immediately clear if the driver was cited.
