Jewel City Fun and Fitness Day slated for Sunday at Central Park

The fourth annual Jewel City Fun and Fitness Day, which will feature the Jewel City Ride, Family Fun Ride as well as the Urban Hike and Scavenger Hunt, will be held on Sunday and offer activities throughout most of the day.

It will start at 8 a.m. in Central Park in downtown Glendale, where cyclists will gear up for the annual Jewel City Ride, a 35-mile loop of the city.

Tickets for participating are $25 and available at JewelCityRide.com. Each purchase includes a free lunch provided by either Lao Sze Chuan and Rounds Premium Burgers.

Food can also be purchased online for $10 or in person for $12.

At 9 a.m., the Bike Safety Rodeo and Family Fun Ride will begin and feature a safety family ride through downtown, courtesy of a police escort. Free registration is available online as well.

The Scavenger Hunt and Urban Hike will get underway at 10 a.m. and will include an item quest that will take participants all over Glendale. Participants will be eligible for prizes including two children’s bicycles.
